The people who want total government are aware of the consequences referenced. They know they will have to kill or imprison roughly 25% of the population in order to accomplish their goals, and they find that acceptable. Taking any sort of action against establishment powers is going to be counter productive until more people start thinking critically about their liberty.

Below is the part of the article I found most interesting because we see a lot of this even on this forum.
"I would point out that the communists were very careful and deliberate in ensuring that the actions of the internal police were made valid through law and rationalized as a part of “class struggle.” Such laws were left so open to interpretation that literally any evil committed could later be vindicated. Man-made law is often a more powerful weapon than any gun, tank, plane or missile, because it triggers apathy within the masses. For some strange reason, when corrupt governments legalize their criminality through legislation or executive decree, the citizenry suddenly treats that criminality as legitimate and excusable."

The quote in my signature line reminds me to avoid group think in an echo chamber where we all think/talk alike. Normalcy bias is not our friend either. However, with history as our guide, I can affirm that your commentary is on target. Lord Acton's "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." is also absolutely correct. However, that which cannot be sustained won't. Tyranny is one of those unsustainable entities. Sure, it stinks while it exists, but it can't last forever.

As for the quest for legality in everything the goverenment does, my "aha" moment came years ago when I heard news reports of Congress relying on a team of lawyers to help them craft some piece of legislation. Here was the highest body of legislators in the land, who are literally The Law-Makers, a high percentage of whom were lawyers themselves, who were using even more lawyers to add to the burdensome regulations already corralling the sheeple. Just because Congress (or SCOTUS) makes something legal it doesn't make it right, even if done in the name of democracy. For example, many in the US now think that same-sex marriage is an acceptable practice. No, it is merely legal.

Here's a modern day example of lawyers further ruining our lives. You didn't forget that Obama, besides being a community organizer par excellence, was also a lawyer although he gave up his law license in 2008 to become, you know, a stalwart defender of the US Constitution as CIC. Obama to Expand Surveillance State Powers by Signing a 21 Page Memo

As the Apple vs. FBI battle rages in the court system and throughout the halls of Congress, Obama decides to do what he does best. Using “his pen” to make consequential decisions unilaterally.

Just another day in the American banana republic.

    The New York Times reports:
WASHINGTON — The Obama administration is on the verge of permitting the National Security Agency to share more of the private communications it intercepts with other American intelligence agencies without first applying any privacy protections to them, according to officials familiar with the deliberations.

The change would relax longstanding restrictions on access to the contents of the phone calls and email the security agency vacuums up around the world, including bulk collection of satellite transmissions, communications between foreigners as they cross network switches in the United States, and messages acquired overseas or provided by allies.

The idea is to let more experts across American intelligence gain direct access to unprocessed information, increasing the chances that they will recognize any possible nuggets of value. That also means more officials will be looking at private messages — not only foreigners’ phone calls and emails that have not yet had irrelevant personal information screened out, but also communications to, from, or about Americans that the N.S.A.’s foreign intelligence programs swept in incidentally.

That video shows how incredibly stupid those people are.

Also, if you get out of a truck yelling "shoot me" and appear to be reaching as he was in the video from above, you get shot.

Lost all respect for them for dragging the kid along.

That was a bit disturbing. Also kind of surprising that the video made it through custody without being deleted. With no service, cloud backup didn't happen. Unless the no service narrative was false.

That view sure gives a different impression. The number of shots fired alone raises some suspicion.

Well when they took the kid, they were going to a peaceful meeting. They were not expecting an ambush.

Glad the video is out there.

I'm not sure how I really feel about it after seeing it.

I'm glad it's out there too, and it has altered my opinion a bit.

We don't know what happened before the video started. We don't know what the officers replies or commands were during the initial stop when he said he was going to meet the Sheriff. (For all we know they said, great, we'll give you an escort).

We do know he repeatedly yelled shoot me. He appeared to reach toward himself, and anyone yelling just shoot me and then reaching for what might be a gun is going to get shot more often then not.

But now we also know there were a whole lot of shots fired after the threat was down.

I also can't help but wonder how different things would have turned out if there had been a K-9 there when he got out of the vehicle.

As far as I can tell, the shots fired afterwards were a combination of flash bangs, gas, and bean bag (or similar).

Not surprising considering they were part of an armed group who had taken over government property (yuck, hate having to say that).

Hiding behind the door wouldn't have protected them from any real bullets, even 9mm. It goes through metal car doors at 100 yards.

    Nobody won here.

    Both sides failed.

I'm not surprised by the citizens actions.
I'm very disappointed in the federal response.

    This wasn't Bonnie and Clyde.

Someone yelling "shoot me" is no excuse for police doing so.

Perhaps the first shooting was justified. Still hard to say. The continued firing was not necessary.

Have to agree with Vaquero and oldag. Lot of fail on both sides. But I would have expected better from the Feds. Too many extra rounds fired.

Any way you want to slice it, it's suicide by cop-threatening.

    He plainly chose his fate.

    I'd want to live.
I'd glide to a stop 100 yards short of the road block and meekly get out with empty palms visible and high and wait for the cuffs. Seek my day in court.

Dumb ass suicide wanna-be-martyr wasted life, pure and simple.

I have huge respect for the law enforcement guys who aren't paid enough to put their lives on the line and, with a simple slip, might never have made it home alive that day.
    Bravisimo for law enforcement.
