I got a pair of Merrell last year. I'm not a fan of them. Not very comfortable & still made overseas. I should have went with Keen... made in USA.
You may need to give them another try. My first pair was amazingly comfortable. I bought another when those finally wore out and they have never been as comfy as that first pair. I guess it's YMMV, as the style and size was the same.

I’ve owned several Merrill light hikers over the years, I love ‘em.

I got the Moab 2's, reviews were good. But damn they have such a hard sole & insert, they hurt my feet after a few hours.

Merrills are the only things I have found besides low heeled boots that don't make most of me from my hips down hurt. A lot.

Had a pair of Keens Pyrenees boots lasted 5 years of deer stalking and yard work, just bought another pair. Ugly but comfortable.

Anyway most of you are probably to old to still be wearing Nikes.
