Yeah. I know, not “great” but for my trigger finger, I’ll take it.

Heck yea you will, especially out of an AXIS II.

Good shooting and good job working up the load.

I say one click right, and two clicks up will give you a fine 200-yd zero with that load there.
Is the brass coming out sooty or clean?

Either way, you are ready for November.

I wish I had found a few hundred primers. I need replacements for those I'll use in the next week.
I don't shoot or reload much in the summer. It's busy season at work and too hot at the range and garage. So right now I'm stocking up.

Brass is coming out surprisingly clean. The final load was 1/2 grain below published max. I shot a group at max charge weight, but it started to open up a bit. But even that brass was in great shape, no pressure signs at all. For an inexpensive rifle, it has me spoiled. I took out another rifle today to test some factory ammo, an old Remington 742 in 30.06, and the first group I shot was about 2”, and I immediately, decided that the rifle didn’t like that ammo. After trying out a couple more, I realized, that may just be as good as it gets with that thing! Hoping not though, the rounds I tested today were 150 grain, I have some 180 grain that I will try next week.

Garland Academy said they haven't had anything reloading wise since October of 2020.

The academy people are straight bullshitting about the primer supply. I know one gunbar guy who has been reasonably honest but would only sell me 2-500 at a time. When I asked for an empty box to store them I was pissed off to find they are priced 6.99-7.99/100 but under $40/1k. So even though they've had full boxes here and there, they get to overcharge you by selling them by the hundred.

Still better than none at all. When the dust settles I think 6-7 cpp will be the new norm.

You gonna turn around now and sell them for $350 on GunBroker?
All kidding aside, lucky you. Our Academy stores have nothing. I hear of a lot of ammo and primers coming back into stock up north but the south seems to be understocked. Another conspiracy theory brewing? :)

I hate when people have stock that they jack the price up on because of market conditions.

Seems to be a lot of ammo in the classifieds like that.

Karma is a bitch ain't it?

If you actually ever tried you would probably be surprised what I'd do for another OG TGT member. But if you never ask you'll never know.

In the meantime, haters gonna hate. Water off a ducks back my friend.

    Then there you have it.
That load is the "pet load" for that rifle.
No "soot" indicates that the pressure is just right, and the penny size group says the rest.

Write the recipe down in your logbook, and on the buttstock behind the recoil pad.

There were three types of primers available when I saw these, NATO 7.62, CCI LPP, and CCI LPP magnum. I bought 1K each LPP and LPP magnum to load .44’s.

I ended up paying right at $200 after tax, shipping, hazmat.

So $0.10 per primer. I acknowledge that is double what they used to go for not too long ago.

But as I currently have none, and all the components to load .44 spl and .44 mag, I’ll pay and be happy for now.
