    Here
That really is just not correct.

I spend a good part of my job in a very liberal (higher education) setting.
The liberals I discuss this with just want him to stop acting like a kid holding his breath till he gets his way.

He, so easily, could come out of this looking like an inspirational leader were he to quit obsessing over the "5.7 billion" number, a figure he dreamt up because it sounds knowledgable and big-ish-enough and now his "base" has accepted that 5.7B as a real number based on engineering and architectural plans. It is no such thing.

For those of us that fact check him he considers to looks to be a fool.
Want an example? Two days after he was in Texas he stated quite certainly "Well, I haven't actually left the White House in months." during Fox's Pirro interview.
    https://factba.se/transcript/donald-trump-interview-jeanine-pirro-fox-news-january-12-2019.

Fact check me please. He appears do disingenuous when he says nonsensical things.

    He's our president.
I want him to succeed rather than look the fool spewing misinformation.

    Well that explains it.

Can you really compare a wall around a country smaller than most, if not all States in the US to the border wall. Add the the fact that the citizens live in a state of alert and are trained via national service to be vigilant. Hamas loves to tunnel under that wall too.
Who are you responding to? Might help if you quoted the post in your reply to it.

There’s nothing wrong with not budging off the $5.7 billion figure, as this in not a one-dimensional negotiation about price. This is a negotiation where the dems can (and should) get something of legislative importance to them AND the President gets the $5.7 billion. A deal is there for the making—if only Pelosi chooses to be a player. Only chumps think this is a situation where the answer is to meet in the middle at $3 billion or some other silly number. #LET’SMAKEADEALFORREAL,SUCKERS!

I don't think you guys really get it. Do you think the opposition is really about a wall, fence or whatever you want to call it? When the talking point with the democrats before and after the last election, when they believed and then knew they were going to take back the majority of the house, was going after Trump, when it's obvious that since they can't really impeach him that their only other option is to oppose him. You don't go from saying something is a good thing (the wall) to something is a bad thing unless you have a reason for doing so. This is all about the "Trump is not my president" movement. Poor losers.

    Nietzsche,

PITY that you've swallowed the LIES of the DIMocRATS Party & the rest of the MORON LEFT, hook, line & sinker & therefore, "know NOT & know NOT that you know NOT."

Fyi, Israel currently has MORE miles (in their case, KM) of border wall than even the most optimistic estimates of the amount of border barrier that the uSA needs. -= MUCH of the border is UNSUITABLE for both "unlawful entry" into the USA nor is it feasible to construct a border barrier. = A barrier/wall/fence is NOT needed in those areas.
(Unless you were trying to FOOL readers, you didn't know that FACT.)

I was a career peace officer at the city/county/federal levels for over 3 decades (I'm now retired.) I have spent more time enforcing the law down by the border than 85-90% of LEOs ever have. = I know what REALLY is going on down there.

After you have ACTUAL field experience in dealing with the VICIOUS border criminals for at least 5 years, come back & I'll politely listen to your unknowlegable opinions.

    yours, satx

If you call Trump acting like a petulant child then WTH do you call Pelosi???

Pelosi? She's far worse and damaging to our republic than he is.

He needs to step up with a plan and lead.
The wall, by itself, will accomplish little to nothing.
He knows that, I know that, most of you know that.

If Trump departs from his obsession with his fake/confabulated 5.7B number he then gets belittled and berated by Hannity, Coulter, Limbaugh and the like. They have him painted into a corner and you guys are fostering and promoting the hideous position in which he finds himself.

Trump, as a leader, needs to produce a comprehensive border plan to include physical barriers, work visa system revisions, legal immigrant tracking, port-of-entry upgrades, high-tech border surveillance and on and on.

You guys may paint me as a too-liberal moderate. Fine. But I, like most of educated and informed middle America, am getting outraged by Trump's obsession with the grotesquely oversimplified wall concept with which he continue to woo constituents hungry for simple and repeatable sound bites.

    Mr. Trump:
Man-up and present America with an honest, comprehensive, insightful, informed and workable border plan.
Your wall is a partial but necessary component of the eventual solution.
Please muster the gonadal fortitude to stand as a leader of a great nation rather than cower as a breath-holding petulant child. Quit letting the radical conservative pundits like Coulter and Limbaugh P***y-whip you.

    Please.

We are not a bunch of dumb yokels looking for sound bites. We were looking for someone to work for America first. Trump is. Pelosi and her bunch hate this Country. They just don't like that some outsider came in and shook up their cozy little world.

Satx, that’s is an impressive resume, I am glad that you survived the border! From your experience you will have learned that humans are resourceful and always looking for a way to circumnavigate the system. Until the government addresses the incentive ie all the people who arrive illegally set up shop and stay, then provide a base for friends and family no one is going to stop trying. It’s the same in the UK, life looks amazing to desperate people who are willing to do what it takes, currently that’s sailing across the English Channel in the winter in a dingy.

You seem fond of lies of the dimocrats, but the dim ones are those that believe the politicians represent anything but there own interests, the colour of their tie doesn’t really mean much.

    Fair enough.
Not to be misconstrues as "talking down" I hope to raise us all to thinking creatively and honestly. I'm sincere.

    Tell me please.
With what part of my post do you disagree?
I, in good faith, think I'm voicing the opinion of the middle three fifths of Americans.

I, they (and I hope you) want our president to step up as an inspirational leader.
Perhaps I'll set my expectations high in hoping for a Lincoln or a Churchill. I voted for him.

I'm asking an honest question and I hope I'm being thought provoking.

If Trump were to present a comprehensive border plan at 9AM tomorrow and huge improvements in our present border wall were but 25% of his solution I think middle America would be profoundly proud, content and relieved.
It would pass and our nation would be whole.

    Am I wrong?

    Nietzsche,

I have a REAL plan to put a virtual END to UNLAWFUL IMMIGRATION but "the powers that be" are UNWILLING to do what NEEDS doing.

When we pass a guest worker program that allows American employers to import TEMPORARY foreign laborers for "jobs that Americans won't take" (with "teeth" to remove those temporary laborers, when they are no longer employed) AND pass a federal law that REQUIRES heavy fines & prison sentences for EMPLOYERS, who hire/continue to employ illegal aliens, likely 85-90% of illegal entry will STOP.
(Then we can go after the REALLY vicious border criminals, i.e., the DRUG WHOLESALERS, MURDERERS, KIDNAPPERS, SEX CRIMINALS, CHILD MOLESTERS, PORNOGRAPHERS, etc. "with hammer & tongs".)

But FIRST the flood of illegal aliens MUST be ENDED, forever. - The USA cannot absorb nor afford another 500 MILLION to a BILLION unskilled/illiterate foreigners, ever.

I am inspired by Trump. More than any US President I've been alive to acknowledge. (That goes back to Johnson)
I haven't been prouder of an American President in my life.

What I'm not sure of is how centrist or "moderate" that you are.
    You're sly. That's for sure.
At least you don't duck and dodge like zinc does.
Me? I'm not moderate nor centrist. I'm a bible thumping, gun clinging, deplorable, conservative.

Oh. I've got a hot tub too.

Satx, I can see your passionate about this and pleased that we have a modicum of agreement on reducing the “incentive” part. I hope for your health they make some progress.
