    Was that with the Wright brothers? I rented 172 for $65 per hour wet but never seen anything at $13.50. Joking of course.
    LOL it was a long time ago, indeed - 1970.
    I had my pilot's license at 15 before I could get my driver's license. :)

    And, like @Tnhawk - I quit when the wet rate went up... seems I stopped at $35/hr, if memory serves, and that was a lot of money back then.

    I've had people talk about paying $5 or other ridiculously low-seeming prices for flights. I just tell 'em. Go get some old silver quarters and I'll get you pretty close to the same price.


    As of today - 02/28/2023 it is about $3.78 in silver spot per quarter.

    $3.78 x 4 quarters = $15.12 so $5 face in those silver quarters... would be roughly $75/hr for my time.
