You guys are just bad influences on me! I'm old, used up and worn out ...........but I wasn't always that way.....snicker.

In 1985, I began teaching in a vocational school in Oklahoma. The school had a Certified Law Enforcement Training program and I knew one of the instructors real well. The other instructor was nice but I just never got to know him. "C" was the hand-to-hand combat instructor and one day he invited a couple of us up to do an unauthorized combat workout. This was full contact. You wore padded gloves, there were no punches pulled and you wore street clothes.

First, "C" paired me up with a male teacher who was a reserve police officer. The guy came at me "bitch slapping" and honestly, I didn't know what the heck to do with that! He got some bad shots in and it kinda hurt my pride! The guy slapped the crap out of me!

OK, injured pride and all, "C" says that he's going to do an arrest on me. I wasn't about to get whipped again so I gave it everything I had. I threw him around like a rag doll and at the end, had him in a clinch with hammer fists to the top of his collar bone to put him out of the fight. He tapped out and I beat him fair and square.......smug grin here.

"C" sucked it up like a man, never missed a beat and called out "Hey Brenda, got a minute?" In comes Brenda who was one big, bad, female Police Officer. She was in uniform but took off her gun belt. "C" explains that they are going to arrest me................. two officers against me. Feeling cocky, I said "OK".

The play starts. "C" yells "You're under arrest!" I yell back "F--- You!" and the fight starts. When you fight two, use lots of room to circle keeping one opponent between you and the other opponent. You knock one out then deal with the other. I isolated "C", knocked him out of the fight then attacked Brenda. That broad was big and strong as a bull! I had her by the head and half way over my shoulder in a Judo throw when "C" got back in play. He hit me hard from the right as Brenda was on the way down. I laid that big woman right across my lower left leg. My foot and ankle turned totally blue and swelled up immediately. Needless to say, I tapped out! My ankle and foot were huge! I hobbled around for a few weeks, never went to the doctor and made sure "C" didn't get burned for running the unauthorized session. Simply put, I kept my mouth shut.

Lesson learned.............You may whip one cop but they'll just get more cops and you won't beat them all! It's best to save the pain and just give it up!

In my early 20’s I met one girl in a nightclub and we ended up in her motel room later on. At some point I ran out of condoms and threw on my pants and shirt and lit out to the parking lot to get more out of the car. Then, coming back, I looked up at four stores of rooms and realized a terrible truth – I DIDN'T KNOW HER ROOM NUMBER!

I had never known the room number, just walked with her to the room, not paying attention, and I didn’t even know her last name so I couldn’t ask at the front desk. Besides, there I was, 3:00 a.m., no shoes, shirt untucked, hair mussed, smelling like beer, with a box of condoms in my hand. Great. I need to make damned sure I don’t knock on the wrong door!

Nothing to do but go for it. I thought back and the third floor seemed about right. I got to the top of the stairs and just walked with my eyes closed, replaying our conversation in my mind, with a hand on the wall to keep from running into it. When I goto the right place in the conversation we had, I stopped and opened my eyes. There was a door three feet in front of me. I took a breath, combed my hand through my hair, and knocked on the door.

Success!

It was the right room. We got a good laugh out of that little incident, but I had had a few bad moments there.

The moral to this story is: listen to what the girl is saying. It may save you later on!!
