MIT police officer dies from injuries after shooting
(NECN) - Middlesex County District Attorney's Office says a MIT police officer died from injuries sustained in a shooting on campus Thursday night.
According to authorities, the officer was found with multiple gunshot wounds outside of an MIT building. The DA's Office says the officer was then taken to a local hospital, where the officer was pronounced deceased. The officer has not yet been identified.
The DA's Office says there are no other victims.
Mass. State Police say no arrests have been made, and they are actively searching for a suspect or suspects.
State police say the shooting occurred around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
MIT officials say multiple agencies responded to Building 32 (Stata), and are asking people to stay indoors and away from it and the surrounding area.
State police say they are assisting in the search for a suspect, processing the crime scene and supporting the investigation.
