Free admission to Texas State Parks is available to any veteran who has a service-connected disability, which is rated 60% or more by VA, or a service-connected disability, which has resulted in the loss of a lower extremity. Application may be made at the headquarters office of any Texas State park by providing satisfactory evidence of service-connected disability. Texas is probably the most Vet friendly state in the US as far as I know :D Especially if you were from Tx when you joined, because then they help you out with college as well (on top of the GI bill). A little trick I've learned is if you go to a place that offers a military discount-ask them if that applies to vets as well just for the hell of it. I still get discounts all the time by showing my VA card.
