I'm glad you guys like the field expedient rail mount. We were cracking ourselves up over it at the time and were just hoping it would hold up long enough for him to pop a few rats. Even funnier is that the rail is STILL stuck on his gun with the zip ties in spite of the fact that he's got rather good machining skills and machine tools at his disposal!

    Techna,

Is the mount on the 2211 a factory mount, or did you make it also? The rail looks like the factory standard iron sights mount, but the area where the Leupold sits looks longer than the factory. I really like it.

does anyone have a suppressed 22 that's not a ruger mark?

    1. Beretta 21A w/threaded, extended barrel
    2. Sig Mosquito w/Jarvis threaded barrel
    3. HK4 .22 setup w/threaded, extended barrel
    4. Beretta 70 w/threaded, extended barrel
    5. Beretta 71 w/threaded, extended barrel
    6. Beretta 87 w/threaded, extended barrel
    7. Sig P226 w/.22 conversion kit w/threaded barrel
    8. Sig P228 w/.22 conversion kit w/threaded barrel

If you asked me which one I enjoy shooting the most, I'd have to say the HK4 w/.22 conversion kit rocks. I've had better luck than most (apparently) with the Mosquito.

I don't want a .22 suppressor host that is difficult to take down and clean. That's probably the reason I've stayed away from the Rugers and the Brownings.

This is quite a thread revival, but I like it! To answer your question, the whole mount was scratch built and was an exercise done to get the sight as low as I could. After shooting the Ruger with the FF3 mounted over the ejection port for a while, I found that for me it was preferable to have the sight located more forward. In the end I compromised the low mounting location a little and moved my Deltapoint forward on the 2211. It sits on a slightly modified factory TacSol rail now. It's slightly higher than before but still much lower than the Leupold clamp on picatinny mount. I'm not sure if it's just me, but having the rear sight there seems to help me align the gun and find the dot much, much, faster. Here is the same 2211 upper on it's dedicated frame and with the sight in its new location. Set up for rats and with one of my 9mm cans too.

Can't wait to see the Ruger Mk 4's with threads in person. I will haz one for sure.

No more beating on it with a mallet, flipping the thing upside down and reaching inside with a dental pick or impaling your hand on that $!@#@!! hammer spring takedown spike just to get it apart for cleaning.

Welcome to the 21st Century Ruger.
