I was just out there. I would really like to meet up with someone who has mil-spec 1911 shooting experience/expertise. I am consistently almost a foot low of point of aim. Even at 7 yards. Wondering if it is something I am doing, or if it is the gun. It is really pissing me off.

I do this, too. In for advice. Try it one handed, you might be surprised..

Thanks Jared. I will try that next time I am out.

I am going to do some Google-fu later. I want to find out what the mil-spec sights are "zeroed" for. I briefly did some searching and got the impression that it is 25 yards. I still don't think that would explain such a shift from POA to POI.

Major Kong. I have a Springfield milspec 1911. We can meet up sometime and you can shoot mine to rule out the gun. Only thing I can add is watch your grip angle.

Thanks for the offers outdare and Brains. I might just take you up on it. I used to have a Kimber Stainless II and could easily hold groups out to 15 yards with it. That was years ago, and I have not shot pistol much in the last couple of years. I am just dumbfounded as to what the problem is. Maybe it is getting used to the mil-spec sights.

As far as a meet up date goes just pick one, and I will do everything I can to make it.

I'll be out there at ASC this Sunday morning. It's going to be my last shoot for several weeks...

I'm finally going to be tearing down my 10/22 and it's going to get upgraded in a major way:

    - The trigger group is going to Brimstone for a "Tier 2" trigger job.
    - The bolt and barrel are going to "Que" for chamber/crown tweaks and his bolt modifications.
    - Ordered and will mount a scope (Nikon Prostaff Target EFR).
    - Ordered and will install the Southwest Precision adjustable cheek rest.

Up until now I've been taking the modifications to my rifle fairly slowly but I'm ready to kick this sucker into high gear. I know there are a lot of other things I could just replace outright (new barrel, new stock, new trigger group, etc) but I want to try to take this stock rifle as far as I can without dumping too much money into things.

Anyways, see you Sunday if you're out there!

I drove through George Bush park today, but not past ASC. There are large amounts of deep standing water everywhere.

I went out for a short period Friday morning.

There was still A TON of water left from last week's deluge.

Pretty muddy still as well. Bring boots.
