this thread has sorta gotten away from my original question, so to bring it back I'll ask this..:

can the barrel of a Remington 1100 Youth in 20 ga be cut to minimum legal length and NOT be a problem for it's semi-auto action ?

    thank you.....

I think it can be done if its the shotgun im think of, it has an adjustment nob on the end of the mag tube that allows it to cycle at different gas pressures.

thanks, I'm trying to find a "contact" avenue with Remington - hopefully, if I do get to talk to someone there, they won't be irritated that I would even suggest something like that.....

ON EDIT : just talked to Remington - they said that it probably would be a problem - there isn't a way to adjust for different pressure - the gun can be ordered with a 21" barrel - will inform my Wife

would still like to hear from anyone whos cut the barrel on a semi-auto

I have a remington 1100 with a 14 inch barrel on it, if a 12 gauge will do it, I don't see why you couldnt run a 20 gauge the same way, it has a mag tube extension so it holds 5 plus 1, I run a modified rem choke on it and when we shoot skeet it is the most asked for hey can I shoot that thing a couple times gun on the line! keeps an excellent pattern too.
