I don't pay 75% taxes here. Not even a close comparison.
Between state, federal, local, property, and sales tax. Then add in fuel taxes, "fees" and indirect taxes you pay towards the corporate income tax rate to all of those government agencies. I think you might be surprised at how much of your earnings go back to some government agency. And what do you get for your money? Not nearly as much as what they get in places like Denmark.

Our taxes are no where near 75%. Even when I was in NYS with super high property and income taxes it was probably only in the 45-50% range. It's far less than that for me in TX. Property taxes are about a 3rd and there is no income tax. Fuel taxes are also only about a 3rd.

Yeah, you can add up all my taxes, including fuel taxes, and "fee" taxes on my cell phone, and even throw in car registration, still not even close to 75%

If you dig in to the history of the area, and compare past to recent history in terms of unemployment, business and job growth, population growth, etc, you can see the Scandinavian plan isn't really working that well. Just google a little bit.

He thinks social democracies like in Scandinavia work, and they do.

Collecting city, state & federal taxes to fund waste pickup, building high schools & paying for aircraft carriers is socialism of the sort that Sanders wishes to promote.

Of course it works, including in our democracy.

"Socialism" is a concept with many variable meanings.
The word is so malleable as to be near useless defined by discussants. It evades a precise definition.

Our American society could never survive without a degree of socialism.
IMO Sanders wishes to take socialism too a farther reach than I can support.

In the case of Sanders the word "socialism" is employed as a weapon.
    So misunderstood it is.

All I have to say is: If Hillary is elected, it'll be less the fault of liberal voters and more the fault of GOP sourpusses who would rather see the nation burn than to try something different.....something as different as electing a former actor, perhaps.

If/when Hillary is elected our nation won't crash and burn.

Our nation is solid. We'll do fine.

It's the GOP that just might exhibit spontaneous combustion.
How to recover from a post-Trump tromping??

    Sunrise, 11/9/2016......let the finger-pointing begin.

Our nation is already burning, we're just waiting for the crash.

Also school district taxes. Mine were $22,000 last year.

Trump is espousing open dog whistle racisim and bigotry. A vote for Trump, no matter the reason, is a vote for that.
Do you want Trump with the nuclear codes?

Dog whistle (a term created by liberals) means you can't see it but you know it's there. "Open dog whistle" makes no sense.

I'm not saying the rest of your comment(s) make sense BTW.

Sounds to me like a way to justify calling someone a racist bigot who hasn't actually done or said anything racist or bigoted.

If you vote for David Duke, no matter the reason, you just voted for David Duke. If people don't like the comparison, well thats on them. Voting for Trump is voting for someone who repeatedly attacks members of one religion and effectively dog whistles against "Mexicans."

No matter why you vote for him, you're STILL voting for that, and you have to live with that.

While I agree in principle, I have to take issue with the idea that he is using coded language. His bigotry, misogyny, and xenophobia requires no subtle decoding, it is worn prominently on his sleeve. There is no nuance or subtlety involved. For most that support him, these positions would need to be stated explicitly for them to glean any sort of meaning.

Yup. That way you can call anything racist.

Anti-religious bigot actually. Islam is not a race. I won't vote for anyone who's major plank is absolute bigotry against one of the largest religions in the world. It tears at the very heart of the Constitution and what this nation stands for. Anyone who votes for Trump is literally voting for that. Sorry, but thats on you.

You got me there. I was thinking more of his comments about "Mexicans" being a dog whistle, but its pretty blatant isn't it. But he's sure some of them are good people.

It reminds me of the old days when Klan guys would get on TV.
