Just bought my 1st Toyota 4RUNNER last month.

But they don't make a 3/4 ton truck
No they do not, but if they did, I would probalby own one.
As it is, I will just keep going with my 06 Dodge 3/4 ton.

As for GM, I have had no use for them since they pushed that POS Vega off on first time car buyers.
Actually it was much earlier than that, but the Vega pushed me over the top.

I wish all of the ******** would make at least one basic 4x4 without all tech BS

Just bring back the Ford 300 straight 6 with a manual trans and 4 wheel drive. I'll even crank my own windows and get a key out of my pocket to start it!
That 300 6 was a great engine. The 240 before it was too.

As for basice pickups coming back, That is just not going to happen.
Urban cowboys have ruined pickup trucks.

My first car was a 74 Vega GT, in 1974.
    Lots of great memories!

I had a 1981 Suburban that wore out front brakes and burned up exhaust manifolds on a yearly bases. When it blew the valve stem seals his I fixed it and sent it packin. This was the norm back then so I was told.
But there were too many on the road to warrant that.
I've not owned a GM vehicle since.

There are no more quality manufacturers of vehicles.

You need to carefully research and select an engine and transmission combination, then pray that the supplier properly hardened the lifters or cam. Or the circuit board manufacturer properly soldered the components. Or that parts remain available.

All by design. We all know how many millions F250 7.3L trucks they could sell, or how many 5.9L stick Rams that would sell. But longevity is not an option.

I've got a long while (knock on wood) before I have to worry about it but when I retire my F250 I'll be looking at the 4Runners. I like the 5th gens with the V8. Sadly, no longer an option.
My 2024 still has the 4.0. That's the great engine they have had for years...last forever next year that goes away to some turbo 4 cyl crap

Check into "implied warranty of merchantability." A friend took Ford to court over a defective head on a truck that had 100k plus on the odometer. Each part is supposed to last a certain time/distance.

This can also apply to household appliances, lawnmowers and a whole rash of things.

Ineos Grenadier is the closest you'll get these days.

Yeah, it's disappointing. I'm holding on to a glimmer of hope that they will at least keep the 4.0. The Gen 5's (V8) will be getting pretty long in the tooth by then.
I'm new to the brand and I never new they put a V8 in a 4RUNNER

All 4RUNNERs are made in Japan and I thought the Iforce V8 was made in US and is now gone away a few years ago due to CAFE requirements

Regardless..I wanted the v6 anyway that engine has been in the 4RUNNERs and Tacomas forever...it's known to run 500k with no issues
