THE KEY THING WITH USING A POWERED TOOL TO SHARPEN A KNIFE IS SLOW AND EASY AND KEEP THE BLADE COOL!Definitely don't get it too hot - you'll ruin the temper. If it starts getting too hot to touch, cool it in water then go back to the sharpening. Repeat 'till satisfied.
I own a Work Sharp Ken Onion sharpener, and it pretty much sits in the garage unused. I really do dislike sharpeningKen Onion sharpener is a quick way, just don't get it too hot. I prefer not using a power sharpener myself, but then, I don't mind taking longer and I don't have any cheap stainless that is harder to sharpen.
Good to know. I'm a bit shy on the sharpening to begin with, so if the blade ever got warm to the touch I stopped and let it cool back to room temp before continuing. Made it seem like it was taking forever to get an edge, which made me like the process less. Am I being too paranoid?Definitely don't get it too hot - you'll ruin the temper. Create an account on the website, fill out the form, and follow the directions. Just did this today for my used and abused Mini Grip. I'm curious what they'll say when they get it. Between the hydrochloric acid stains, chips in the blade, the serrations all but completely gone, and the big arc weld spot from when I wasn't paying attention popping battery terminals .... It's definitely seen better days. A blade aficionado, I am not.How does one ship an auto knife to Benchmade for sharpening?

IF YOU SHARPEN MULTIPLE KNIVES YOU CAN WORK ON ONE WHILE ONE IS COOLING OFF!Only slightly. Warm to the touch is ok. Once it gets warm enough that you don't want to touch it, that's when you should cool it. When I'm grinding a new blade, I put my fingers on the steel opposite the grinding belt. When it gets uncomfortably hot, it's time to set it aside and grind on another, or dip it in water to cool it before I continue.
I have one of their Mutitools which would not longer retract well. I sent it to them they sent that one back and a brand new one with new holders for both of them. I fiddled with the old one a got it to workI dunno about sharpening, but Gerber has been great about standing behind their products with replacement parts. And they do have a warranty, I just haven't needed to send one in for repairs yet.
i'm indifferent towards benchmadeIf anyone is so mad at Benchmade they want to get rid of any of Benchmade knives they own, I'll be more than happy to take them off your hands for a nominal price!

I know Richard Archie of Tennessee Firearms Association as a member on another forum. What's pretty funny was when he was working(I assume he since retired) the company he worked for built a slew of Chinamarts across the country.Same here plus I haven't stepped foot in a Walmart in over 4 years when they decided to give money to Bloomberg supported gun control lobby groups.
WalMart "partners" with Everytown for Gun Safety and Michael Bloomberg to advance gun ban agenda - Tennessee Firearms Association

Yep, pretty much my take. I don’t care what the companies politics are; I just don’t want them ramming their beliefs down my throat. Michael Jordan said it best with his comment back in the 1990s that Republicans buy sneakers too.I don't normally search the values of companies, however when they choose to make them known, then they will influence my choices.
I prefer Protech products to Benchmade products. I prefer Shiner to Bud. The decisions of these companies wasn't a factor in my choices.
Happening A Lot lately. They slapped the face of their primary audience.
An excellent company from my hometown. I bought an Estwing hatchet 30 years ago. It's beat to hell but still going strong.Estwing
