TADA is a government supported cartel. Good luck.

Yeah most states are the same (besides the carve-out for Tesla and aspiring EV companies).

From a local POV, car dealers provide massive local taxes, and they also employ quite a few people…so they have a very strong political lobby.

I can see good and bad with the dealer-franchise model…I just think the playing field needs to be leve for everyone, without special exceptions.

Teslas “we’re just a small startup and need help” argument fell by the wayside years ago…

I have owned only one Corvette in my life, and that was the biggest pile of crap calling itself a car I ever owned. Crappy fuel mileage, uncomfortable to drive, and expensive to own.

I'd rather have all my teeth pulled without Novacaine than own another Corvette!

    Interesting...totally opposite ownership experience here....I've had a few....let's see, 6 of them:
    -'11 vert (manual)
    -'12 GS Centennial Edition (manual)
-'12 GS (auto) - aka "the Beater Vetter" (it was my wife's)
-'13 Z06 (manual, the only gearbox option then)
    -'15 Stingray (auto) - the wife's
-and now my current '17 Z06 (7-speed manual, of course)

The only thing keeping me from the C8 is the flappies...oh well LOL!

I was just never enthused or impressed with Corvettes. The 1981 I owned was only because my first wife talked me into buying it. Thank God both are long gone, and pretty much forgotten about.

I don't fault anyone for liking them, if that's what they like. I'm just not a Corvette type of personality. There are other cars I'd rather own than a Corvette.

You owned on of the worst ones out there (it looked good, at least, to me, but it was everything else)...well, maybe not...there was the 1984 with that "crapfire" (I mean Crossfire) injection....and the 1982 was no treat either...not knocking you at all - the end of the C3 was just horrible...all of the emissions...all of the vacuum hoses...hardly any power...the start of the C3 was nice...then it just got worse, and worse and worse...my wife would like a '74, her birth year...that's about as late of a C3 that I'd go...and I still am not "sold" on that...the new Vettes are crazy...and really nice, as in REALLY nice...I didn't much care for the C6 interior (whether it was the base model trim or the highest level, it was just typical GM interior), that all changed with the C7 in a HUGE way...and now the C8....HOLY MOLY!!

I knew it was going to be post emissions C3. They were crap all right.

It was a good looking car, black with red interior. It also had been pretty much hot-rodded by the former owner as well. Only reason I bought it was to please my wife at the time, and that I got a great deal on the car. I kept it for about six months and sold it to a young lady that just had to have it worse than I did. I did make money when I sold it!

I agree. Off the dealer's lot, they were dogs. Stock they didn't even make 200 HP.

190'ish HP....hold on to your hat!! LOL!!! But wait! In 1982 they found the HOLY GRAIL!! 200 HP!!!! LOL

The sheer irony of this is that my bone stock/OEM Z06 makes 650 HP/650 lb-ft yet drives like the gentlest kitten when you want to and then unleashes hell when you want too...

I’d love to own a C6 Z06, mostly for the LS7 motor they put into it.

They’re still relatively cheap, but that won’t last…

I drove a black and a red 2019 Corvette C6s back in 2019 when the girl I was dating at the time (A millionaire) wanted to go to Starbucks everytime she came over to my studio apartment. She claims she didn't know where it was and asked me to drive both times. They're cool and all, and I definitely throttled each one of them once just to see what it could do, but honestly, if we're going to start spending 6 figures on cars (I believe she said hers with all options were about 85k each) I'm probably going to take a Porsche 911

dealer franchise laws hurt consumers. Why can I not buy a car directly from the factory? Because some asshole with a 50 point IQ needs to get a commission? **** off. Tesla was right on this one.
When it really comes down to it, I don’t think most people want to order a vehicle directly from the manufacturer. If dealerships were done away with, it probably wouldn’t take too long for someone to come up with a great idea to stock vehicles of various trim levels and colors that people can try out before they buy, but leave with that day if they want.

You could easily put $85k in options into a 911…
They’re great cars, timeless design and layout.

What if ordering from mfg is 20% less cost?

1962 I bought in 1965 for $1,500. 327 FI, 3 speed, which was their racing model. The
street model was a 4 speed.
