If video emerges of him charing around corners outside the building, pistol drawn, looking for the shooter, then his story thinking the shooter was outside could be plausible.

That's an awfully big "if". If it happens, I'll apologize for every evil thought I've had about the guy. OTOH, if that video existed, I reckon the political hay to be made from letting it leak would have already resulted in it going public.

No, I'm more interested in seeing video and hearing audio from the dashcams of all four of the deputies who chose to employ tactical loitering as their response. If they were hanging out near their cars, those recordings should prove illuminating.

PS - My thanks and the proper authors credit goes to that LE trainer guy who made the video where he coined the phrase "tactical loitering"; that was brilliant.

ETA - Oops. My bad. A quick google search shows that the phrase "tactical loitering" is not new at all. Well, it was new to me.
