This is happening at the end of the firing. The last round the sks holds open.

The spring pushes that rod forward by resting under its flange
I hope it came with a certain spring.
This is my first sks and I will take it all apart again and check when I get home.

It shoots just fine, but that’s most likely the problem.

Soooo imperfections? Something is failing to retain it. Had lots of sks’s in my life. Never had this issue. Look that hole over. Lol maybe a weak spring.

Could be burrs in the hole or a tight fitting rod. The bolt closing could be enough to reset it every shot and you only see it protruding once the bolt locks open. Check hole for Cosmoline, check rod without spring for sticking in hole due to size or bend, finally lube the part before reinstalling. If its a little too big try slicking it up with scotchbrite or 320grit paper or finer.

If it was bent you would notice that. The hole in the housing ain’t got that much clearance
