    It's home ...

    First impressions:

It's not perfect, but it is damage free.
    Definitely need sway control
Big when you first walk in ... gets small, though.

    Pros -
GVTW is 5900 ... lighter than I thought.
    No issues with electrical.

    Con's -
seal on the toilet is hard so there is an unpleasant odor. Won;t hold water in the bowl.
    Hitting the supply store tomorrow.

    No keys ... grrrrr
Probably going to have the new locks and latches installed.

    Battery won't hold a charge.

    Unknowns -
    Water system

Roof seals. Need to wash the roof and thoroughly inspect.
But a casual look-see it appears to be OK.
The goo around the vents is still intact and pliable.

    tires
Look to be in decent shape, but the trailer was last registered in 2010.
    So ...

    Ordered -

    Reese Straightline
    4 new wheels and tires

Thinking of fabricating some sort of swing out spare tire rack.
I like to carry multiple trailer spares.
A swing out system that has the spare tires inboard and resting on the bumper and the backside is a platform to lash cooler or carry bins.

    Owner tried to stiff me.
After I counted the stack of Benjamins and he did too, he calls about 15 minutes after we left and said I was $100 short.
I did graduate from a Texas High School, but I ain't stoopid.

I thought a travel trailer would be a great way to see the country and see the sights.

In the first three years, I only got it on the road three times. Then the factory tires failed.

Can't use car tires -- have to use ST-rated tires.

Vehicle inspection? Yes your trailer has to be inspected, and you have to renew your registration annually.

A couple of years later, the sub floor gave out, and upon further inspection, the cause was a leaking water line. Over time, water will totally destroy the OSB flooring and ruin the floor covering.

I was stoopid enough to think a Travel Trailer built in Texas would be superior to all others.

Take note, if you park it on a pasture or gravel stand and not on a asphalt lot, all kinds of vermin will invade the cabin.

I've had mice and snakes make a home of my travel trailer. They don't look for food, just shelter. The mice build nests in the RV, then snakes follow them for an easy meal.

I think I will set mine on fire just to eliminate the vermin.

    Thanks Gil ...

Actually kind of surprised at the cost of putting it all back together.
New door lockset was $30, plumber's grease softened up the seal on the toilet and $10 worth of 1141 lamps got all the lights working.

On a another note, what moron decided that a square headed screw would be the way to go?

How old are the tires? 6 years is about the limit for tires that will see the highway much. After that they tend to separate.

Why new wheels? Are they bad or just for cosmetic reasons?

The reason I bought 4 new ones.
There was some weather cracking in the tread.

New wheels are additional wheels for spares.
I'll carry at least two, maybe three.

    Very nice indeed

What's the weight of that thing?
I had a 28' Vintage Outlaw that weighed in at 5500lbs before car, spares and tools.

    Ah, gotcha.

I travel all over the country with a work trailer and do the same thing. Two spares at all times. Saves a ton of headaches.
