Freshwater drum a sheephead to you?

They are bluegill, but some call red ears and pumpkin seeds by the same name. Most people I know call all of them perch, which is how I was raised. Had a buddy who used to correct them with the same vigor as mag vs clip on the forum. I eventually gave in to shut him up and got in the habit of calling them bluegill.

Right. Bluegill, redear, pumpkinseed and green sunfish are all different.

Man. This is bringing me back. Im not kidding when I was 10-16 I probably went fishing 6-8 solid weeks out of the year.

Too hot here for real perch afaik, no walleye that I know of.

No, not that I've ever heard of. But some lakes are stocked in early spring.

Top water bass fishing is the ultimate fun for me. Plan to try in March and April. Need to get a canoe. Hard to fish from the shore.

Smallmouth

Sand bass

Crappy

Striper

Bluegill tend to be bait as well as shad.

Crappie are great to eat. I used to catch some huge ones in Minnesota and Canada

I haven't done a lot of it, but had a blast when I did. I even get some small ones for the bluegill to hit sometimes.

Little late but no freshwater drum is called Gasper goo or to some just goo. Totally different from sheepshead. Same a black drum but in freshwater but don't grow as large
