    Re: Wher to Hunt

Shame that's such a hard question to answer in Texas. Wish I had better news.

    Public Land - Non existent

Get a lease - You got to know someone and pay $$

Private Hunt - Costs an arm and a leg.

Friend with Land you can hunt on - best option but not really common in Houston.

It's tough, esp. if you're on a budget. Of course, if you've got $$, lots of acreage is available. If not, you may be able to find someone who has a year-round lease that will let you hunt hogs or varmints.

As for public land, matefrio's not quite right. Check here: TPWD: Public Hunting

Another possibility is to check in the paper for day leases. You may have to drive a bit to get to one, but nothing worthwhile comes without effort.

Of course, hunting may be especially tough this year because of the wide-spread and intense drought.
