    SF6 is a potent greenhouse gas. It has little use, mainly in high voltage circuit breakers. Banning it has made the breakers grow in size by 3x.

    And every few years we get an new super expensive residential and auto AC freon to fight the "warming".

    Seems like it always coincides with a patent running out. Weird how that works.

    And the new freons are flammable - meaning it might lead to lots of smoke.
    The price (cost of the refrigerant) to restore your car's R123yf is 5x what the old 134 was.

    It is also used for propellant in medical inhalers and has allowed a restart of the patent protection on those medications.
