Just like Mecum auctions, imho, BAT, Mecum, and many others are either money laundering schemes, or FOMO (fear of missing out) heightened/egged on by 'social media'....

One of my former employers is a BIG car guy. Multimillionaire, of course. He's been going to Mecum and a few other big name auctions for 15+ years. He says that back 10-15+ years ago, some of the auctions themselves were very good deals, at least sometimes, but in the last decade, just about the ONLY good deals are on the streets and in the parking lots where attendees or even just Tail-Gators drive and park cars w/for sale signs on them...for MILES around the actual auction venue.

Whereas in 2006 when I worked for him, he bought 5 cars/pickups at the actual Mecum auction, last year, he bought zero, but 3 from non-auction people outside.

BAT is kinda like Facebook or Keeping Up With the People who Create Transvestites from Former Olympians, imho: Much hype, much back patting and simply crazy people seemingly sitting in an almost echo chamber.

Fun to drool over, but unless I hit the lottery, BIG time, never going to be more than a fantasy...

I built this little 85GT in my garage over the course of about a year. Back in 2010. Unfortunately due to divorce had to sell it in 2015 got 8500 out of it. (Had about 21/2 x that in it not counting my labor).

Lost track of it until this past Mecum Auction in Houston.

It sold for 20K.

Not really related to topic just related to auctions. All you need is two fools who want the same thing bad enough.
Especially if both those fools have fat wallets.
