Another site I belong to has an annual fund drive.

Admin publishes a budget dollar amount for the year and open up for donations for a couple weeks.
There are a few perks that go along with it, but mostly it makes it a user driven site and
keeps the rolling ads off the page.

Enough funding is raised from the users that the "annual" drive is usually every 2 or 3 years.

I bet a similar drive here could yield $3K annually.
Here, I like the collapsible forum sponsor menu.

There is a link at the top, just under the banner, for "Site Supporter".
If I become a site supporter, does the ad banner go away for me?

It's funny how people are all supportive of capitalism...but get on a forum and people expect it to be run as a Communist enterprise or non-profit...

    How I see it.

Some merchants, large and small, see our site as worth supporting, snd maybe we'll return the favor.

    It don't bother me none.
