Thr only thing mama didn't like about the new 4RUNNER was the rock sliders instead of running boards

So I got her a set from the dealer and made her help me swap them out.

I have rock finders on my Tacoma. Wish I had some sliders instead lol.

My buddy’s 4runner came from the factory with running boards so high that you might as well step into the damn car than to step on the board first.

Put new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4s all around! After Discount Tire got the balancing right (it took two times), it drives like a dream!

Back when I had my Miata I bought some Pilot Sport 4S for it from discount. They stuck to the road like glue in situations where the OEM Bridgestone Potenzas would let the ass out a bit.

Unfortunately the pre-pubescents working at discount use their impact gun like they’re in a NASCAR pit crew and gouged the shit out of all 4 wheels around the holes for the lug nuts, and even dropped the wheels face down and removed a chunk of the factory finish pretty bad. They tried to replace them with poorly refurbished used rims but in the end just refunded me the $1200 for the tires so I could have the wheels repaired on my own.

Tried a Walmart Everstart 3 year warranty battery, bought in November and it's 500CCA shows 46CCA after a full charge. I usually get 1-2 years from a battery but this is crazy. This one only showed 475CCA the day I brought it home which is unusual since I would expect around 575CCA or more on a new battery.

Installed WeatherTech floor liners. Was neat to see that them in brown/Cocoa, and for all 3 rows and the cargo area.

Better than my Husky liners in my F150z

Came across a deal on an comercial truck shell for my Dodge.
Mounted it, wired it with interior lights and since it is windowless, I also installed a 4 channel backup camera system on the shell and our RV.

One of the great things about the shell is that all three locks use the same key as my truck.

Finally got around to swapping in new to me rear leaf packs in the bronco krawler. Broke the main spring on one side last wheeling trip. Jammed a 6x6 above the axle and below the frame, ratchet strapped it in place, and got off the trail. Found some lightly used 4.5 “ lift Deaver packs to replace my worn out 3.5” Deavers. Based on internet opinion, I pulled the third leaf in each pack to get closer to 3.5”. Got the new packs installed, and on to the little stuff (rear driver brake caliper replacement, and new Optima AGM battery) to get ready for upcoming wheeling trip to Katemcy.

Last Sat i changed the oil/filter for the 1st time on the wife's new 4 Runner

I will never , ever take that or let her take it to a quick lube.

4 bolts to drop the skid plate
2 bolts to remove the cover to the bottom of the oil pan drain plug access
A special 64.5 mm socket that removes the cover to the oil filter canister that uses an o ring that has to be replaced each time.

A quick lube would half ass that up being in a hurry.. they half ass the easy ones!

I'm a huge Toyota fan but would never own a new one like this.
I've heard too many stories already.
I thought my my 08 was bad having no dip stick for the transmission and its hard to find anyone willing to change the fluid for less that $180.

I'm fairly certain the off road edition 4X4 4Runners have been this way for years.

It's all the skid plate protection underneath

Just not something I'd let a quick lube do

Today is valve lash adjustment day.
Just drain the radiator remove the radiator remove the fan already had the fan shroud off but on a normal day... all this just to get to the crank pully in order to turn the engine over by hand as needed.

At least it's an old car and has plenty of access to work on the engine when needed. I think I work on it more than I drive it. ;)
