If you paid that much for your EDC you would be too.

Hey I’ve got your back TS.

Since you’re the one that gave me itch for one of these. Someone else on another forum pushed me over the edge.

Since starting my official journey into long range shooting, I have been buying all sorts of accessories. Not counting actually buying a membership at a range in order to access longer distance.

The last time out I spent like 45 minutes searching the house for my kestrel the night before. I blamed my wife, my kids and the pets for it being gone. I went on a tirade when my 3 year old said he saw it in his room after seeing the picture of it on the box. (My wife said he was lying but it was a lead) Long story short it was in my range bag. I had checked it twice but not good enough.

While at the range the day after I had a great time shooting out to 500 yards. I was able to qualify so that next time I can push farther out. The range goes to 1100 or so. The thing I was struggling with was rear elevation using my shooting mat and my hand.

Long story short, I picked up my first shooting bag and a folio for keeping a notepad and the kestrel in a place. The folio has a clipboard built in and a pocket so I can stuff copys of my stamps and other papers as needed.

Good stuff so far. They are from coletac. I will do a spot review after I use the bag. I also ordered another one from precision underground. I am going to assume that shooting bags will be use dependent and probably like holsters. Hopefully I can get a couple that work before I fill up a drawer with ones that don't.

@Lost Spurs Are you shooting at Cawton? I’m haven’t been yet but I’m gonna try to make it in the next couple of weeks. Unfortunately as a day shooter I’m limited to 100yds.

Haven’t really done anything past that distance in a while anyway.

10 min south of BCS. 100 yard, rimfire and pistol bays as a non member. 2 1000 yard ranges as a member with probably 50 shooting positions. They do PRS shooting there so they have every type of barricade you could think of shooting off of.

I worked out a deal with my wife to start going once or twice a month. Membership ain't cheap but I line with the couple big ranges around DFW when I was up there. They have a PRS match this weekend on the 13th. I will try and get there Sunday or next weekend.

Yep, that’s what I figured. Been eyeing them since we moved here years ago, just don’t have enough time to justify spending the money. I’ll try a couple of days and see if it looks like I can make time for it. Our move a couple of years ago put us a few minutes farther too, oh well.

I been noticing some precision 22lr matches recently, that would be fun too.

They do a monthly .22 precision shoot. I am going to try and work my boys into that. The .22 range is a scaled down big range with various sized and distance steel out to a couple hundred yards.

So the other rear bag I ordered showed up today. This one from precision underground. Both are approximately the same size. Similar external material. Both show quality stitching.

The fill material is different between the two. The one from coletac (solid color) is softer and changes size more when squished. The one from precision underground (camo) feels sticker inside and feels like it may be a more solid base.

I have no real idea what one will work better. This is the reason for getting one from two different places. Both offer multiple sizes, shapes and colors. Both are hand made in this great USA.

Went and looked up the Precision Underground guys. They have MARPAT. I’m sold!

Now, why that bag instead of some of the other options they have? (Maybe start a thread on rear bag decisions?)
