Ordered 12 lbs of powder from Powder Valley. I heard on a podcast last week that several powders are being discontinued (IMR Enduron) plus a 10-20% price increase across the board and supply chain issues that may cause shortages with some powders. This recent shortage has taught me a lesson for sure. I’m not getting caught having to beg and pay outrageous gunbroker prices for primers and powder again!

It’s called “The Reloading Podcast”. At least one of the hosts they had on was a retailer and he was passing along info that was given to him, as well as supposedly some news that was posted on the Hodgdon website, but I can’t get any of their news and announcements to load.

Lubing and sizing 45-70 and 50-70 cast bullets. I had to put a milk house heater aimed at the lubrasizer, darn lube was not going to feed. Hoping Estes gets the old GOEX plant running soon, 65 grains a pop goes though the black stuff fast.

Got only 20 or so culls from a Lee pot of 170 & 185gr cast. Melted dive weights (15#s free) I got from her BIL melted - appears to be Sb hard alloy, not Zn.
    Enduron is GONE!

Cautiously loaded some 38 special in new Lee 6000 progressive but loaded single instead of progressively just to test each function. Worked great and especially pleased with priming. Will go to full progressive tomorrow and have the case feeder going too. Will report on updates. Have RCBS lockout die in position 3, right after powder-case flare die. This calls for a bullet feeder.

I can't seem to find i.r4064 for my 7-08 loads. I tried varget with hornady brass but couldn't get groups. I'm trying it again with alpha brass to see if I get better results. Loaded 9 different charged to see what happens. Maybe take them out tomorrow.

Let us know how it works. Especially the priming function. I'm interested in one of these presses.

If you really really need some 4064, I can trade you for some varget.

Thanks, I’m going to have to give it a listen.

Also taught my grandson how to make loads for his new Ruger/Marlin 45-70. Used Federal cases, Hornady 300 grain hollow point, AA2200 & Remington 9.5 primers.

Finished up loading 1000 380 auto and have a good start on the second thousand. My old Lyman pot crapped out on me the other day after 35 years or so, so I'm thinking it's time for a new 25# furnace. Before it went out I did get hundreds of 223 55gr cast from my new lee 6 cavity mold. Since I can't cast I may start powder coating them.

Yesterday I ran through the press and used it as a non-progressive taking each station on its own. One case going through 6 stations. Station 1 is deprime and size, 2 is prime on upstroke (must remember), powder and case flare on downstroke, position 3 is RCBS lockout die and it does work very well (picks up over and under powder loads) as it is hard to see powder level in 38 special cases, station 4 is empty for now, station 5 is bullet insertion and 6 is factory crimp die. Primer worked flawlessly until you get down to last few primers and a paper clip moves them along. Today I added case feeder which came with the press. I added the collator which I had and easily filled all 4 tubes in 30 seconds. Case feeder had a few failures, case dropping to floor or double feed but rare and does not really endanger operation as no case in that station. So today I went full blast, all stations filled and had one case that I didn't insert primer fully, one case that I inadvertently double charged because I half stroked but that case was caught by my lockout die. All in all I was very pleased with the function of the press and 6 stations is sooo nice especially compared to my 4 station classic turret. First time using a progressive so I went slow but happy with results. Problems, the Lee bushings that came with the press are cheap aluminum that had filings still on the threads and needed a real cleaning. Not as nice as the old steel bushings. The pin that pushes the primer into the case jammed before I did any reloading (some dirt?) but fully functional with a tiny bit of silicon on the bottom part of the primer ram and some canned air. No problems with it today. Not a dillon but press and mounting bracket for Lee cost $286 delivered. I did not buy the kit as I have everything else and when you buy for a specific caliber you get a bunch of stuff but the die set does not have the FCD which is really cheap of them but it did come with case feeder but not collator. I just took Lee stuff from other presses. It does come with the Lee primer holder case and extra primer small and large holders and pushers and a lock ring wrench. Maybe a Mr Bullet mini bullet feeder next. Although it was pretty easy putting a bullet on the case at position 4 by hand. I may stick with doing it manually as it makes me more alert. RCBS lockout die is really swift.
Edit to say this is for the Lee Six Pack Pro , Lee 6000 press.

Didn’t plan on using my 6mm creedmoor for hunting, but I was ordering powder last week, and MidSouth had Sierra 90 grain tipped Game King factory seconds for $25 a box of 100. Figured even if 1/3 were bad, it would still be a halfway decent deal. Found a few with broken tips, but not many. Worked up a load with IMR4350, and sent them across the chrono this morning. At the max charge weight (43.7), 5 shots averaged just over 3,300 fps, and shot a .30” group. May not be a bad hunting round. May take it in case I get a shot at a coyote.
