    Recoil45 & ALL,

    My problem is SOLVED.

The seller has a friend with a big truck with winch ramps & he will bring the PU to me either this or next week, as he wants to make SOME $$$$$$ for a delivery & so that he isn't "running empty" on the way home.

WOO HOO. =====> I can hardly wait.

    ROGER4314,

    YEP.
And since he was already coming this way, the price door-to-door is reasonable in price: 1.15 per mile. = LUCKY ME.

If you end up renting from u-haul make sure you tell them that the vehicle that you are putting on the dolly is much smaller than the tow vehicle. I needed to tow a Dodge mini-van and was told that a Ford F150 was not heavy enough.

You can "test" what you need to tell them on their website. You pick your tow car 1st, add the car trailer and then add the car your planning to tow. If the website says no, pick a lighter car to tell them your towing.

This is why we can't have nice things.

    Savage20,

U-Haul presumes that everyone has NO brains whatever. = The Mercedes W123 weighs LESS than some of the Hondas BUT they don't allow the Mercedes to be towed with a F-150. = WEIRD, imo.

Btw, in this particular case, I couldn't have borrowed my buddy's 3/4 ton PU & driven the 600 miles for what I'm being charged. = GOOD DEAL for hauler & me, too.

    satx,

$50 for gas and even a ridiculous $250 for rental does not = $690 so not a GOOD DEAL, in my ever so humble O!

    600 miles. 290+ miles.

It's one or the other, how did it change?

If he went it would be a round trip. If it's delivered fee is one way.

    Not that complicated.

    Glockster69,

Face it. You misunderstood what I wrote & the other folks here who commented understood what I was saying, even though I didn't say it well.
In point of fact, Younggun said what I meant in 4 words (post #33) than I did in many.

The hauler is hauling a expensive car from the Border up to the Dallas-Ft Worth area at retail & bringing my PU back at a much lower rate to keep from coming back to South TX with NOTHING at all aboard, for the return trip..
