Keep in mind we don't have a space agency anymore. Obummer turned it into a muslim outreach program. Its fitting since the religion of peace would like to blow us infidels all up into into space.
IMHO to get beyond rockets is going to take a NASA like government funded agency, that is doing it primarily for the military.
