Drop in the bucket compared to the cost spent buying hotels for homeless. City of Austin has spent at least $14M tax dollars on that effort alone.

Yep, plenty of hand-wringing by city council about affordable housing. But they can’t seem to grasp the fact that many of their actions are causing that!

Give tax breaks to businesses to relocate to ATX, but do nothing to reduce expenditures; homeowner’ and landlords‘ property taxes GO UP!

Said businesses bring in more people. The law of ”supply and demand” has not, cannot, be repealed. Ergo property prices go up and up!

And so the lack of affordable housing is a creation of their actions! But the poor shmucks that actually pay the taxes are expected to pay for their stupidity/ignorance. Gotta love the liberal lords of Austin and their insatiable thirst for more money to squander.

If they need a job, there's PLENTY of jobs out there.
Make it some work program where you give them a place to live WHILE they are working and paying something towards the provided housing.
Giving out free money is the dumbest dumb-shit idea I have ever heard. You won't fix the problem.

Problem is everyone now expects shit for free, In turn nobody wants to work because they don’t have to. I own a business in the area and trying to find anyone who wants to work is next to impossible.

If on the off chance you happen to find someone looking for a job. They are half brain dead with no skills or qualifications. They expect to be paid top dollar for knowing and doing nothing.

Typical dick weeds. Give away money vs actually making life better by making jobs.
Not only that but it's taxpayer money without the taxpayers having any say-so at all.
I believe we started this country on a protest over taxation without representation...

It's because they give these megacorps tax breaks on property taxes so the deficit has to be made up by homeowners.
Look at the sweetheart deals given to Apple and Samsung. Apple has LIQUID cash reserves that are greater than the GDP of many countries!

No shit. I did the math and added in 24/7 security, maintenance and upkeep and the cost per "resident" exceeds the median income of local legitimate citizens! This just to house them much less food and services.
Problem is because they have rules and curfews the bums don't want to stay there. The one functional facility is mostly empty!
It's a real racket. You look at the politicians donors which is required by law to be posted on the city page. Top donors across the board are involved with the homeless and second deal with builders trying to get the wheels greased on permits and such.
