The Myth of 90 Percent: Only a Small Fraction of Guns in Mexico Come From U.S.

In fact, it's not even close. The fact is, only 17 percent of guns found at Mexican crime scenes have been traced to the U.S.

What's true, an ATF spokeswoman told FOXNews.com, in a clarification of the statistic used by her own agency's assistant director, "is that over 90 percent of the traced firearms originate from the U.S."

The ATF is drumming up numbers to support their own budget and agenda.

When the economy sucks, you need to quantify your job and advertise your value.

So, 90% of the "American made" guns originate from the US. If they find a non-American made gun, they don't count it.

Kind of like the way they figure the unemployment rate -- they don't count you if you're actually out of work for more than 3 months.
