Neal Knox was perhaps the most influential "LaPierre non-acolyte" in his day. Knox was a writer, firearms issues expert, and 2A activist who saw the dangers of the NRA having a monolithic dictatorial management.
Unfortunately, Knox lost both rounds and was vanquished to die without influence.
LaPierre designed the "Nominating Committee" as his fortress for coming battles against the NRA Membership, and here we are today !
