Since I don't have anything in this CT9 (gift), I'm going to SBR it and do some modifications. The current 16 in. barrel with be shortened to 10 inches and threaded 1/2X28. ....If I go any shorter I will also have to modify the upper receiver and handguard. .....The butt ugly awful thumbhole stock (which my friend already modified) is going away too........

    I cut the stock off.....................

    Standard AR15 grips fit great...................

    The rubber buffer..........................

    20240915_235216.jpg

I'm milling an aluminum plate to attach to the rear (will paint it black) and mount a rail on it to attach

    a folding buttstock..............

Some AR15 GI fire control parts actually fit this rifle..................

6 bolts hold the barrel/trunnion in the upper receiver. They were slathered in red loctite......a heat gun made short work of their removal.......

They do but you have to use followers from the 10 rd mags........someone is 3D printing the followers from what I understand.......I have plenty of Uzi mags....

Cheap HF saw, but pair it with a quality Starrett blade and it's actually pretty good...............

There are always problems that arise when you try to make something different than it's original configuration.

The 10 1/4 in. barrel did not protrude from the handguard far enough to attach my suppressor..........

    thumbnail_20240919_160824.jpg

So I took an inch off the upper receiver....................and relocated the handguard pin hole........

    thumbnail_20240919_152929.jpg

    thumbnail_20240919_152945.jpg

The handguard and the alignment of the pin hole fits perfectly in the front..............

    thumbnail_20240919_153022.jpg

The barrel now protrudes far enough for suppressor attachment......

    thumbnail_20240919_155829.jpg

I used Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black on the receiver to cover the work area..................while it isn't perfect, it works well enough...........I use inside AR15 receivers after milling them out..........

    thumbnail_20240919_162036.jpg

    thumbnail_20240919_162224.jpg

Now I have to cut 1 inch off the rear of the handguard..........and of course it will be more complicated than it needs to be..............

The rear of the handguard.............the tang fits between the upper and lower receiver pin and the trunnion to hold it in place....I needed to cut one inch off the handguard including the tang.....

    thumbnail_20240919_163301.jpg

    Not so pretty but effective................

    thumbnail_1000000660.jpg

    thumbnail_20240919_171200.jpg

Now ....to start on the rear.........................................
