Steel plates?

I keep reading about shooting steel plates at ranges, and it seems more real than shooting little holes in tree products. Is there any place in Central Texas to "ring steel"?

Check out Austin Lone Star Practical Pistol Club We shoot a lot of steel on matches almost every Sunday.

If you are a member of PSC they have a pistol range that has steel plates that you can shoot any time. I think there is also a plate range @ ASC.

I went to my first steel plate rimfire match today in the Crosby area. It looked like fun but it's a mixture of rifle and pistol stages and the red dot sights are the winning combination. I figure that rigging a 10/22 and a Ruger Mark 1 or 2 would cost a couple of hundred bucks and I'm not sure I'm ready to spend the Dollars on it.

I went shooting at Down Range Sporting club outside of Bryan (Near Kurten) a few months ago and they had some steel you could shoot. Website doesn't look like it's been renewed though, anyone know if it's still in business?
