It may be some compatibility issue with the “other brand “ magazi, but sometimes my 2011 locks back on some magazines and not on others.
What cut / notch causes the pistol to lock back, or is it something else?

    2011?

Modernized 1911. Might be a double-stack 9mm, might be a .45ACP just with updated features, lighter frame, bull barrel, ambi safety, accessory rail, etc. Several brands market their modernized 1911's specifically as 2011's.

    Here's an example:

I have had issues where a manufacturing burr on the inside of the magazine (1911) body will catch the follower, preventing it from advancing far enough to engage the slide stop. Honing/filing the burr solved the problem.

Could be the plunger spring is weak. The small plunger that pushes the slide lock has a small spring inside the tube. On my 1911 I had that problem. It had me scratching my head till my hair was falling out. Not making any promises, though.

You sure you're not riding the slide stop with your thumb?

Slowly racking the pistol with an empty questionable mag may show you what's going on. Could be a few different things.

Does this only happen with some magazines?
Is it repeatable with those magazines or even intermittent but still just certain magazines?

If so, it could be a weak spring in the magazine or the tab on the follower is not engaging the slide stop correctly.
