It's bull. 90% of traffic is created by tailgating (following too close to allow merges and congestion of flowing traffic). If everyone allowed others to merge on and off, almost all accidents (at least minor fender benders) and traffic from on ramps would dissipate.

Whether a accident is blocked off or not people are going to be dumbasses and rubberneck. I hate dealing with poor drivers so much I rarely go anywhere anymore. The range, work, and the occasional trip to San Antonio is about it for me.

Yep, because everyone is in a damn hurry to get somewhere 3 seconds quicker or in most cases, 15 minutes later because they think I'm going to go faster than 10 over for them. I sometimes have to wonder, am I the only one or one of the few that comes to a complete stop at a "Stop" sign, that does mean Stop right? I also wonder if I'm the only one that gets back in the right lane when I'm not passing too. Man this topic is going to turn into a bitch session quick...

Sorry, but having lived in a country with no speed limits but has very well trained and disciplined drivers; I can attest that bad drivers don't do anything to help traffic move quicker. Stricter requirements for getting a license and greater enforcement of laws would significantly improve vehicular flow...

I think no free ride out of a accident that you caused should be something too. No more accident forgiveness, makes people careless. I don't necessarily support other countries in how they do things, but Germany has their driving program spot on.

Agreed, I've always thought "no fault" policies such as Florida and 11 other states have is a ridiculous concept. A 2012 RAND studied showed that insurance costs are higher in no-fault states (source). According to that report, by 2004 premiums under no-fault were 50 percent higher than those under tort. The two main causes for the high cost of no-fault were that auto insurance pays for a larger number of medical services in no-fault states than in tort states, whether measured as hospital stays or visits to the emergency room, chiropractor, dentist, or psychotherapist; and automobile insurance pays more for the same medical services in no-fault states, and this difference has increased over time. Although medical costs were roughly comparable in no-fault and tort states in 1987, within ten years they had more than doubled in no-fault states.
