Stabilize and discharge. Nothing more. It is the same treatment our own indigent are provided. Letting someone die of a treatable emergent cause shouldn't even be on the table. Clinic type issues can wait on the four hour ride back to the border.

No, they shouldn't. Hospitals should not have to bare that cost.
However, illegal aliens should be deported to their country of citizenship.
Billing the respective country of origin for deportation costs is a good idea but unfortunately that would create another never ending and always growing governmental department we don't need and can't afford.

I'm guessing you don't work in the medical field. Rules be damned, I dare you stand there and watch someone die while you play pocket pool. Any medical professional that would allow it to occur would lose their license in a heart beat. It all sounds great on an internet forum though.

Are we talking apples n oranges? I only addressed the original question. I didn't suggest nor imply denying anyone medical attention, especially emergent care.

No, I don't earn a living in any medical related field.

My apologies if I misinterpreted your reply. I read it as responding to my post saying they should stabilized and discharge. Are you saying they should not ship them back? If so, we are in agreement. That isn't the job of hospitals, it belongs to the Feds who are failing miserably at it.

That's funny. Given chronology, I can see how my post could have been misleading. Ok, so here I go:

To original question only, hospitals should not deport; Fed gvmnt should

It may not be a hospitals "job" to call ICE, but I think it's their responsibility to do so if a known illegal alien is in its care.

Returning to my game of pocket pool now. I'm winning!

I would have to go along with that. Obviously a call to immigration would be in order if the patient could not provide US ID.

Better bet would be for ICE to start doing their job and intercepting the illegal before the get through the door of the hospital. Hospitals should treat everyone who comes through their door for help, that is their job.

All it takes is for someone to visit the emergency room to note that there are sufficient illegals in the immediate area to warrant a visit on an irregular basis.

Someone very wise told me that there are things in this world that you cannot fix, ( this in relation to a critter issue on his property ) however, you can make somewhere else far more attractive than your place.

Problem as I see it is similar to people hand feeding wild animals in parks. It is wrong and creates issues of dependance and the inevitable confrontation when either the handout stops or someone is not comfortable with wild life getting that close. We we need to start enforcing the rules already in place, punish those who give aid and shelter or profit from the work done and at every opportunity, use live release, catch them, relocate them and let them go.

We should bill the government of Mexico for costs incurred as well.

Agreed. Every year we should tally it up and send them a bill.

We should also send a bill to all the other countries we are providing security for with like Irag, Afghanistan, South Korea, etc. We should tally up the services we provide to each country that aren't paid back and post it on a scoreboard at the UN (since we fund the damn thing). Then every time someone bitches that we're not leading we can just point point at the scoreboard.

I can see some socialist EU hack going off right now and our rep just silently pointing, arm outstreched, at the scoreboard.
