Stopped in one of the local Wal-Marts and was surprised to see so much 9mm. Probably between 150 to 200 boxes of the stuff. It was in an unusual orange and black box I had never seen there before. Asked the counter guy about it he said it was RWS from Switzerland. Anyone have any exprience with this ammo? It was $16.97 a box for 50 rounds.

I have not heard of the RWS brand of ammo but at my local Wally World there was about 60 boxes of Federal 9mm. They would sell only 6 per person. I bought 6 and my lovely wife bought 6. I am going to the range tomorrow. Still cannot find .380 ammo at a reasonable price.

    was it JHP's or FMJ?

That is a rip off for fmj. So much federal, remington, and Winchester going at 9.50 and 10.50/box right now.

Yeah FMJ and I know it is expense just surprised to see so much there at one time. I hope they are not replacing Federal with this or will have to look else where for less expensive pratice ammo.

The website does say lead free. Some kind of copper matrix (frangible). It is also 124 grain as opposed to 115. I can see how it is more expensive, but I don't shoot indoors. . .so the need is really isn't there.

Noticed the RWS ammo at WM here and tried a box. For me, it shot the same as the Federal ammo but cost $5 more.

I saw that brand at WW the other day. It was 16 and some change. The fed was 9.94. I guess you could get it if you want to be all "green" and safe and stuff, but I'll stick with the fed for 10 bucks.

At WM today and RWS was marked up another $2 box. Still limited to 2 boxes per bar code (6 box total) so I bought a couple more Federal ($9.95) and a couple of Remington at $12.47.
