Due to the wildfires they have now evacuated the whole own. The fire has moved from the Indian reservation and area to the town. My son trains racehorses and has two horses at the track and a new 80K horse trailer with living quarters at the barns. He is in Lubbock over the weekend now he can't get back as they are closing roads. There is one road open and it is one way exiting to the east only. He has a groom in Ruidoso who he talked to late yesterday that said he would get the trailer and horses and head our way, but we have lost all communication. Really bad deal.

I am so sorry to hear that. I have not been in Ruidoso since February 2003 when I was stationed in Artesia for six months. It was such a nice town and the casinos. A nice change from Roswell and Carlsbad. I hope situation improves for your family and friends in Ruidoso and I do plan to take my family there one day.

Son's groom made it in with two horses and the trailer. They have not ordered the racetrack to evacuate yet. Even though they have closed the roads into town they are letting people with horse trailers in to get horses out. My son just left with trailer to haul 4 more $$$ horses out.

There are not enough trailers to haul all the horses off the track but thankfully (for now) it appears the fire is going around the track.

    Last I heard. 0% containment.
    Track has been evacuated.
    Then it rained.
    Flash flooding now.

My son got his horses out. He returned to get another trainers $$ All American hopefuls out as well.
On his return trip he went to local Costco and asked for a pallet of bottled water Costco gave him two pallets. He stopped at our Chicken Express walked in with a Yeti cooler and asked them to fill it with a $100 worth of chicken they cleared off their prepared chicken rack which filed the cooler and a big cup box for free as well.

The track did have water and power but the towns power was down so no food. It appears the fire will go around the town and the track, for now.
