Haven't done any Elvis in some time. He will always be one of my favorites. I always liked his music, but as an adult, have a greater appreciation for his music and his voice.
I have been a fan of Dwight Yoakam for a number of years. I'll never forget when this song hit the radio as new song. I had already been divorced from my first ex-wife for almost two years and hadn't heard from her in about the same time. I had taken a transfer with the company I was working for in Houston, and had started getting my life back on track and had started even dating some again. Out of the blue, on a Saturday afternoon, I was getting ready to go out on a date with a lady I had just met, and my ex-wife calls me up! She wanted to come to Houston and get together. Nope, not happening! The funny thing was, as I was on the phone with her, I was listening to the radio, and this song came on. So appropriate!
I think I wore out a few cassettes of REO Speedwagon's High Infedelity! But this song was a favorite. High school senior year, and I had started dating a cute girl named Cricket, that went to a different school in another part of the county. She loved REO Speedwagon, and she would crank it up on my stereo! We dated for about a year and half, and regretfully, I broke her heart. She didn't deserve that.
