I'm a life member at Whittington and I've always considered them a bargain. The facilities are extensive and, except for things where you're destroying stuff (e.g., clay targets), there are no additional fees once you're past the main gate.

I got an email from them today. It said, in part -
We are excited to announce that MGM Targets has just completed set up of a brand new pistol interactive shooting experience at the Center! This is a self serve system where you will swipe your credit/debit card and for $5 you get 10 minutes of automated plate targets with 6 variations to choose from! Take it from me, this is a REALLY fun way to spend an afternoon! Check out Jack and Wayne testing it out!
$5 for 10 minutes! Are you kidding me? The pictures show a nice set-up ...

...but I find it inconceivable that anyone would actually spend that much money just so they don't have to reach down and pull a rope to reset their targets.

Seriously, has anyone here ever been to a range that charged anywhere near this kind of premium just to shoot a plate rack?

Nice setup for sure but I will have to agree, the fees are a bit over the top. Better hope you have a tons of mags for your gun already loaded before you swipe that card otherwise you be burnin money....

    Out here by the lake!
Look @ the price of coffee @ Starbucks! Starbucks brain washed people into feeling they deserve to treat themselves to over priced bad coffee & have grown big doing so.

Is that the same place that makes the targets that randomly appear and disappear?

If it's just a plate rack with auto reset, I don't see a lot of swipes in their future.

30 Bucks an hour. Shoot for ten minutes. Reload mags for 5 minutes. Swipe card again. Stretches it out to an hour and a half. I normally spend about an hour and a half on the pistol range for $15.
So, yeah, about double the cost.

I have spent more per hour at a range, but the targets were a lot, lot better than falling plates. It was a computer generated 'game' that was projected on a movie screen that covered the back of the range. You fired your regular handgun, with regular loads at the computer generated targets and it showed the hits. I can't remember the exact cost, but it was expensive, thinking about $1+ a minute or so.

It was really cool to do, just did not spend a lot of time doing it.

My average range trip is 4 hours. Would I pay $5/ 10 minutes? Hell NO!

That reminds me of the $5000 hookers we hear about. What a waste of money!

To quote Charlie Sheen, "I don't pay prostitutes for sex, I pay them to go away afterwards"
Depending on who you are, $5000 a night could be a bargain.
