Ron Paul.
I like the idea.
Ron Paul will never happen...
Fixed that for ya...
First, his foreign policy sucks. He's an isolationist and wants to abandon the war on terrorism. History has taught us too many times that curling up into a ball and trying to leave the world alone doesn't work. He also wants to machete the US military budget and get rid of all our overseas bases. He's too focused on the economic aspects of the government, and doesn't see beyond the ramifications of some of his positions. I think you don't completely understand his foreign policy beyond the soundbytes about him. Economics IS more important than foreign military policy. Countries fail primarily because of economics; either overextended in wars or too many entitlements. Make a list of countries that have failed, and their causes, and this becomes readily apparent.
Secondly, any politician who has come out and said he wouldn't have authorized the raid that got bin Laden will never get my vote! He said he would have done it completely different from the beginning, again one soundbyte completely out of context.
Lastly, he has proposed the following...
- Eliminating the Department of Education (and most federal agencies for that matter) And...why are each of them necessary when we have redundant agencies at the state levels that actually have the Constitutional authority to exist? They're extra overhead and unnecessary.
- Immediately withdrawing from Iraq and Afghanistan (that won't fly in a GOP primary) I agree with you on this. You can't cut and run. I would have approached those threats differently but wouldn't immediately do anything in either. I'd beat the crap out of my subcontrators for better pricing to help the budget.
- Withdrawing from NATO and the UN The UN is a threat to our sovereignty and freedoms and is unnecessary to us. NATO I'd probably keep around.
- Opposing the Civil Rights Act of 1964
- Eliminating the Federal Reserve System The FED (and unnatural regulations) is the CAUSE of our off kilter cycles and eroding wealth. Even China sees it and commented that we're already defaulting through QE. Why is eliminating it bad? I think you and I studied different economic philosophies. I support free markets and not government monopolies like the FED.
Seriously, do you think most Americans are going to support that? No way...
This sentence makes no sense to me unless I read it in the context of "better the devil you know" or something like that; do you really think Perry is the worst of the two if a choice is to be made? I hate it how the Republican party makes us hold our noses to vote for whatever empty suit they think should have their turn that election, but in 2012 we must pinch tight because Obama must go. This isn't about Repubs vs. Dems or the usual ideological differences. Look at what's become of this country since 2008 and ask yourself if we can survive four more years of 'leadership' from someone who seems determined to undermine everything good about this country and instead promotes policies and people who will ruin us if given enough time. So much damage has already been done. Sorry, but if push comes to shove and Obama is a viable candidate in 2012, then we cannot afford to have ideological purity trump electability - he's got to go.I can trust Obama to screw me every time. Perry is Just another neocon politico who I can't trust.
