WTS - Remington Model 700 - Custom - 7mm-rem/mag - 24" barrel - Leupold 4.5-14 x 50.
Model 700 Custom "C" Grade
Made from 1964–1983, 2003–2004, and reintroduced in 2006. Custom Shop bolt-action rifle in high-polish blue. It is fitted with fancy walnut BDL-style Monte Carlo stock, rosewood fore-end tip, and grip cap and is offered in all standard and magnum calibers. This rifle was built in August 1981.
Remington went out of business a couple of years ago, making obtaining information on any particular gun extremely difficult. I spent much time in Remington groups and blogs and found knowledgeable folks willing to help me identify this rifle. I took the gun to a gunsmith who was well acquainted with Remington, and he felt 99% certain that this was a "Custom Shop" build. He had 50+ years in gunsmithing and claimed that he had only seen 2 or 3 guns of this quality come into his shop! I have not shot it—the bore and rifling look great. The pictures don't do the stock justice! The barrel has some very tiny specs of corrosion. I asked several gunsmiths and Remington collectors if they thought re-bluing would be in order, and the other unanimously agreed that I should leave the barrel alone! I would be happy to send additional pictures of any specific areas of the gun upon request. (Note: I have no idea what the build sheet was on this gun; I know it is glass-bedded!)
