A friendly acquaintance brought a pistol for me to appraise. The pistol turned out to be a M1911, made in 1944and issued to a soldier in the PTO. The soldier had bequeathed the pistol to my acquaintance. Circumstances prohibited my acquaintance from keeping it at home. The pistol needed some serious TLC ... So we struck a deal of 50/50 ownership after it was restored. My restoration was surprisingly successful and I bought out the other 50% out of admiration for the result.

Similar here. I have 2 of the 3 my dad carried in WWII. I don't have the flame thrower either.
That I know of, mine carried an M1903 Springfield when he could (his favorite), M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, M1 Thompson, and M1911. So my count is 4 of the 5..
He was a mortar platoon sergeant, but I don't think he carried one. :) He was a gunner on a 5" gun aboard the USS West Virginia; I don't think he carried one of those either. :D

My dad was a paratrooper. He carried a M1 Carbine, M1 Garand, and a 1911. The flame thrower was a one-off for a special mission. He was a demolition specialist so he had lots of explosives too.
