By the way, remember all of the stadiums built in Texas that would not cost the taxpayers a dime? Many of them were built on the premise that hotel and rental car taxes would pay for them. The dirty little secret though is, if the receipts are insufficient to pay for those facilities the taxpayers are on the hook. With travel virtually non-existent during the pandemic, the receipts are down so enjoy the upcoming new taxes to pay for the circus.

The pandemic might slow things down, but you should research the stadiums in Arlington, TX. Going back to 2001, they paid off the Rangers stadium early. Were on track to pay off Jerry world early, but refinanced the debt to pay for the new Rangers stadium to have both paid off on time.

The sudden increases in hotel tax and sales tax after each stadium opening has been paying off debt early for a couple of decades now, and Arlington still has the lowest sales tax rate in North Texas because the city doesn't need the extra 1/4% that Dallas, Ft Worth, and all the other surrounding cities need to make ends meet.
