I agree. Somebody shooting my wife or kid is just as bad as somebody shooting a cop (or a gay person... or a black person). I'm certainly not against the cops here. They ALL need severe punishment... we just don't need to assign levels of punishment based on who somebody is.

People continue with the equal rights issues. Weird people want to marry the same gender, illegals want to live in America and get free shit form the government, liberals want everybody to act "gay" ect...
The only thing all the trash doesnt seem to support is true equal rights. Punishment shouldnt have a name, color, or restrictions based upon how weird you are.
In my lifetime, I have noticed the people who constantly yell " Equal Rights" or nothing more than free loaders. People who truely understand " Equal Rights" get their asses up every morning and go to work. Everyone has the same rights as me, and I see no reason why they need more!

Need to remove any law that favors one group, color, race, religion, sexuality, economic status, job, elected office, etc. over any others. This is America! Please no more laws that try to set some apart from others.

I mostly agree, but I do think LEOs should be a unique case with STIFF punishments. Their job often takes them in harm's way. They can be the last person between freedom and a long jail term for many criminals. They need to be provided the most protections possible. As for "hate" crimes, I don't see why "hate" makes a crime any worse than another. I imagine ever violent crime is likely founded on hate of some kind or another.

It appears the problem is with the court systems, some judges, etc. .....not necessarily with different laws for different types of victims. If the courts (judges) would IMHO assert themselves and take care of business, the laws on the books would work in most cases. No more scumbags on the street!

The cops do their jobs, the lawful citizens do their jobs and obey the laws...............if the damn criminals didn't get back on the streets it would improve things immensely. And I'll just bet the cops would agree with that! Take the stimulous money and build more prisons (or deport those that don't belong here). If they were punished when sent to prison then they would not want to go to prison. Thereis no punishment in our prisons today. I worked as a security officer in the Texas penal system for 6 years and know what goes on in there. They do not have to work are nothing but, watch tv and lay around are lift weights and play basketball. The inmates have it made in prison. I forgot they call them (clients instead of inmates now)

So why not apply the idea equally across the board and make it a capital offense to shoot at anybody? Because if a scumbag shoots at your wife and kids, it shows they won't hesitate to do the same to a cop.

I'll tell you why it is a automatically a capital offense to murder a LEO. You, society, has asked him to step into harms way for you. You have asked him to go ito situations you would not, hell should not. You have asked him to pursue and apprehend violent criminals. For that he deserves society's greatest protection.

I cannot disagree with that logic! Thank you sir for reminding us. But I repeat, if it's a capital offense, excute him/her, if it's life in prison for other than an officer, then put him/her in prison for life!

I have seen what some cops have written down as assaults. He touched me, ouch. Complete BS! So you want to put to death someone that spit on you? I have seen that as an assault charge, bet you LEO have also. All this about it a dangerous job (look at the stats, it's only very slightly above average), if they shoot a cop, is just more of the blabbering they want to believe and use to place themselves above the rest of us.

As I said before, in American we should all be treated the same! I don't care who you are, someone probably cares for you and would morn if you get killed. Don't make it that one life is worth more than any other. It's selfish and egotistical to think that way.

This is not a cop bashing post, and I don't want this thread to go there, but get off your high horses. You are all citizens just like the rest of us. You need to act like that. We as a citizenry place a lot of trust in you and your duties, you accepted a lot of privileges when you took the job, and the responsibility don't go complaining now. (Please don't get me started on "Professional Courtesy" and other forms of accepted police corruption.)

Society's greatest protection isnt worth crap if your dead. Prosecution isnt protection.
Murder is murder no matter who gets killed.
I'll be real honest and say it upsets me more when a child is killed. When the defenseless becomes victimized the assailant should suffer the worst fate. If left up to me, pain and torture would be applied till death.

Reading what he posted, I understand his opinion that all life is equal. Just because someone is a cop, their life is as precious as anyone elses. No more, no less!
