I have a Rock River Varminter in 223 that is a great shooter. Thinking about adding a Stag Arms #7 upper to it in 6.8SPC. I have the current rifle zeroed with 68 grain ammo and it appears the trajectory of the 6.8 is almost identical. Using LaRue mounts, so might be able to snap the scope off of the 223 and snap it onto the 6.8 without having to re-zero (unless I wanted to get back to dead on zero. But really, really close.) Question is, what is everyone's opinion of the 6.8? Realizing the 6.5 Creedmore and Grendel is a harder hitting round but is it a direct change with the AR15 platform? Thanks.

The 6.8 is a great hard hitting round.
    I wouldn't count on not re-zero-ing though.
I would have one but with ammo at a buck per shot ~ I am hesitant.

The 6.8spc pretty much perfectly bridges the gap between .223 and .308 IMO. I think it's a great round, and the ballistic are excellent too.

I am a big fan of the 6.8.
I have had a 6.8 upper on layaway for a few weeks and I will pick it up Monday. Ammo can be steep but it is more of a hunter than a plinker.
I have a few boxes of Silver State waiting to be fired in my new upper.

I may have to either re-zero, or purchase another mount and scope for the 6.8SPC. LaRue wouldn't argue that point. As far as my thoughts on using the same optics, I got the specs from Shotgun News. The trajectories look very close using 77gr 223 ammo.

Barrel twist rates will be different causing slight trajectory variations. Plus the scope my mount at different height compared to the stock upper you will have to re-zero it. For targets .223 will be a lot cheaper anyways.
