The plates are offset on the shaft and stand straight up, and fall straight down. Any cartridge with "pep" will reset them. I found a good deal on the angle iron and bought the AR500 lollypops. Spent a weekend cutting and welding..
It's 3x2x3/8 angle, with the 3" side facing up at something like 10-15 degrees to help deflect misses down. The common axle was a mistake, but I have the pieces cut to split them up into separate axles.. Right now I get too many sympathetic falls.

All your pics are fabulous, and you left it all behind? Either way I still would not want to live in Illinois. Texas is the last free state. Welcome.

I brought the silhouettes. The plate racks are at a friend's place getting used. One of these days I'll go get them. Texas has been pretty cool so far, save for having to assure everyone you meet that your a conservative gun guy. Other than the Tractorcade pictures in DC, everything I'm posting is pictures I took. Most in state parks on our way here. We took 2 weeks and still didn't get to see 1/3 of what we wanted. My sister was having a fit. Especially when we stopped in Livingston. She wanted us here before Thanksgiving, and we were starting to cut it close.

The silhouettes are now in the back yard here..
If I ever get back to work, maybe I can afford some ammo to use on them...
It's a miniature steel challenge Smoke and Hope. These are 1/2, or 1/3 ipsc iirc, and they use larger targets. When you show up for a match theirs seem HUGE, and easier to hit..

Here's a proper Smoke and hope stage..
