The initial “news media” reports rarey had any actual identifiable accurate info.

Even the “aviation experts” on network TV reports didn’t know proper aviation terminology.

The F-84s were replaced by the F-100 Super Sabre and it was not a travesty. It was an improvement. Most of us don't watch black and white TV anymore either.
