There is/was a place between San Antonio and New Braunfels called the Snake Farm. They had what they called the Prairie Dog Town. It was an area about 30 yrds x 30 yrds where Prairie Dogs lived. When I was a kid I really wanted one. Had to settle for guinea pigs.

Had one as a pet growing up. Super cool and loved it. It would bite, but only after fair warning that it was done being held.
