Me too.I have a curiosity with nuclear bombs.
Has anyone here seen one go off? I always wanted to see that. Slightly before my time.

You need to look up Conelrad and figure out what it was for.
Me too.

Ill check that out, thanks. There's a DVD called Trinity and Beyond that contains some neat footage, you can find clips from it on youtube. Although many of the tests are still classified, you can find some of the declassified films on youtube.
I can't say I've seen one go off, but I remember feeling the shock waves from the test site when they were testing them under ground outside of Las Vegas in the 70's. I also went to the Atomic Bomb museum and seen some of the aftermath in Nagasaki. About a block away from the museum stands a monolith (Next to what was left of a Catholic church) that points straight up where the atomic bomb blew 500 feet up from there (ground zero). Pretty awe inspiring for what is now considered a small nuclear bomb.Me too.

The interceptor I worked on carried the Genie as it's "Special Weapon". It was designed to blow the wings off of the massed Soviet bomber formations we would face.Me too.

These gentlemen appeared to enjoy it...
